McGovern Allergy and Asthma Clinic is a group practice established in 1956 by Dr. John P. McGovern.
The physicians are trained in Adult and Pediatric medicine before completing a Fellowship in Allergy and Immunology.
They specialize in diagnosis and treatment of asthma, hay fever, allergic skin diseases, sinusitis secondary to allergy,
reactions to foods, insects and medications and immune deficiencies which may appear as recurrent infection.

Theodore J. Haywood, M.D.
Board certified in Pediatrics and Allergy and Immunology, Dr. Haywood has written many articles on
adult and pediatric allergy and immunology, and has served on the Editorial Board of the Annuals of Allergy.
As an active member of numerous medical societies, he has served as chairman of the Allergy Section of
the Southern Medical Association and the Texas Medical Association. He is on the faculty of Pediatrics and Microbiology
and Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine.

Lawrence G. Thorne, M.D.
A Graduate of Duke University and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, Dr. Thorne came to Houston from a busy pediatric practice
in Tennessee to accept a post graduate fellowship in allergy and immunology and to join our Clinic.
Dr. Thorne is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.
He is on the clinical faculty of Baylor College of Medicine.

Lyna K. Lee, M.D.
Board certified in Pediatrics, Dr. Lee began her practice here in 1982. A native Houstonian and Baylor College of Medicine graduate,
Dr. Lee completed her post graduate training in Pediatrics and in Allergy and Immunology at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

Frederick F. Herman, M.D.
A Diplomate of the American Boards of
Pediatrics and Allergy and Immunology,
Dr. Herman performed research studies in
allergy related subjects, and received the
Clemens Von Pirquet Certificate of Merit
for Excellence in Allergy/Immunology
Research presented by the American College
of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. He
received his doctorate from St. Louis
University School of Medicine and completed
his residency in Pediatrics at UCLA
Medical Center and a fellowship in Allergy
and Clinical Immunology at Kaiser Foundation
Hospital, both in Los Angeles, California. He
was voted "Best Physician" in the Sacramento
Press Tribune 2000-2006.

Faria M. Khan, M.D.
Born in Birmingham, England, the
daughter of a physician, she and her
family moved to the United States where
Dr. Khan carried on the family tradition,
earning her doctorate from the University
of Alabama at Birmingham School of
Medicine. After completing an Internal
Medicine residency at Emory University
in Atlanta, Georgia, an interest in allergy
led her to pursue a fellowship in Allergy
and Immunology at the Baylor College
of Medicine. She joined our clinic at the
conclusion of her fellowship. She is
Board Certified in Internal Medicine
and Allergy and Immunology.

Renee M. Clary, PA-C.
Renee Clary graduated from Louisiana
State University, Baton Rouge, LA with
early acceptance into a Physician Assistant
program at Louisiana State University
Health Science Center in Shreveport, LA.
where she received a BS degree in Physician
Assistant. She joined our clinic as a Board
Certified Physician Assistant. In addition
Renee is a certified Asthma Educator. She
is a Fellow of the American Academy of
Physician Assistants and a Member of the
American Academy of Allergy, Asthma &
Immunology, the Texas Academy of
Physician Assistants and the Greater Houston
Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Society.

John P. McGovern, M.D. Founder 1921-2007
Dr. McGovern was a distinguished American
and an internationally noted physician who
was lauded by numerous professional societies,
governmental agencies, universities, and
foreign countries for his significant medical
and scientific contributions, as well as for his
leadership, teaching, research and professional
writings. He founded the McGovern Allergy
Clinic in Houston, Texas. The John P. McGovern
Foundation carries on his philanthropic work.
